Have you ever seen the SNL skit with Kenan Thompson called Wassup with That? He’s a talk show host who comes out singing a catchy song called Wassup with That. So the jist of the skit is whenever he starts interviewing his guests he will suddenly jump up and start singing Wassup with That! and the guest will be left bewildered and frustrated.
Unfortunately too many companies and their representatives are not listening to their clients or prospective clients and instead they just spew out their talking points and leave their prospects sitting there unfulfilled like a guest on Wassup with That.
Every conversation we have, whether it be with a friend, family member, neighbor or customer, is extremely important. I once read to treat every conversation you are having as if it were the most important conversation you have ever had. Try it sometime and see what you think.
